Located at the heart of the UH Manoa campus, Campus Center represents the center of student social life by offering services, food, entertainment, study areas. Opened in 1973, it was time to upgrade the facility to meet new demands for spaces, replace deteriorated infrastructure, and provide new services and gathering areas. Due to the large scope of work, the overall project was divided into multiple separate phases, and Ushijima Architects, Inc. (UAI) was contracted to do phase three of the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Campus Center renovation and expansion project, broken into two phases.
Phase IIIA included flooring and lighting replacement in the public areas. Phase IIIB includes upgrades to the ballroom, reroofing, spall repair, reconstruction of stairways, modernization of the existing freight and passenger elevators, and AHU and FCU replacement throughout the building.
Status: Ph. IIIA completed in 2020; Ph. IIIB completed in 2021
