Ushijima Architects, Inc. (UAI) was hired by Star of Honolulu to design various improvements to their 4-acre parcel along Kamehameha Highway. One of the improvements included a new 7,200 s.f. single-story, pre-engineered rigid-frame steel maintenance building that included four bus bays and an exterior canopy for a bus wash area. This new building, which replaced the prior existing maintenance facility, was constructed with concrete slab-on-grade, girts with metal siding and metal roofing over roof purlines and PV panels.
The interior of the maintenance building also contains an approximately 1,300 s.f. office located on a mezzanine level. The office is accessed via a steel staircase on the exterior of the building.
Status: Completed in 2019
