Ushijima Architects, Inc. (UAI) was contracted by Aramark, a national food service provider, for the design and construction administration of a new 6,258 sq. ft. residential dining hall and 500 sq. ft. private dining room at Hawaii Pacific University (HPU). The project provided a new kitchen, including back of house, food stations, and dishwashing area; interior and exterior dining; retail and point of sale area; and a private dining area.
The scope of work entailed improving an existing vacant tenant space to accommodate a new eating establishment. It also included integration of the brand and University identity into the overall design. Work encompassed selective demolition, new interior partition walls, replacement of existing storefront, new finishes and fixtures. Kitchen design, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work were involved to accommodate the new layout.
